Prayer for Christian Unity: 18th - 25th January.
The theme for the 2012 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is drawn from 1 Cor 15:51-58 which states -
"We will all be changed by the Victory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Day Seven - Changed by the Good Shepherd
Feed my sheep (Jn 21:19)
On this day the Bible texts show us the Lord strengthening His flock. Following the Good Shepherd, we are called to strengthen each other in the Lord, and to support and fortify the weak and the lost. There is one Shepherd, and we are his people.
Prayer for Christian Unity:
God, you raised your Son Jesus to give hope for humanity and renewal to the earth. Continue to strengthen and unify your Church in its struggles that obscure the hope of the new life you offer.
This we pray in the name of the Risen Lord, in the power of his Spirit. Amen.

Today is the feast of St. Francis de Sales.
St. Francis ardent love of God and souls, his great kindliness, rare wisdom and sure teaching made him exceptionally influential in bringing about conversions and in guiding souls in the spiritual life.
From 1594 to 1598 he labored at the difficult and dangerous task of preaching to the Protestants of Chablais and effected the return of some 70,000 souls to the Catholic faith.
In 1602 he became bishop of Genf. His zeal for souls is attested in 21,000 extant letters and 4,000 sermons which exemplify how he applied St. Paul's words: "I have become all things to all men."
He is the author of Treatise on the Love of God and Introduction to the Devout Life.
