Youth today

"Values, Hopes and Dreams"

Today we need to take up some new interest, doing something we have put off for a while, getting out for a walk and enjoying the beauty of nature that God has given to us in abundance. We ask God to bring balance into our lives in all we do, as we begin our journey through 2012.

The Eleventh Day in the Octave of Christmas

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

SElizabeth Seton was born on August 28, 1774, of a wealthy and distinguished Episcopalian family. She was baptized in the Episcopal faith and was a faithful adherent of the Episcopal Church until her conversion to Catholicism.

She established her first Catholic school in Baltimore in 1808; in 1809, she established a religious community in Emmitsburg, Maryland. After seeing the expansion of her small community of teaching sisters to New York and as far as St. Loius, she died on January 4, 1821, and was declared a saint by Pope Paul VI on September 14, 1975. She is the first native born American to be canonized a saint.

Today’s readings could take one in many directions. The first reading suggests the idea of love flowing from God, The Psalm brings the idea of a God worthy of adoration in this season of Epiphany, and the Gospel shows the idea of God as miracle worker and source of sustenance.

"Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!"
He got into the boat with them and the wind died down. They were (completely) astounded.
They had not understood the incident of the loaves. On the contrary, their hearts were hardened. Mark 6
